This season the Mens Doubles, Mens Singles, Super Vets (Over 50's) Mens Doubles and Mixed Doubles will go ahead with the details as follows. All other sections have been cancelled due to lack of entries.:
Mens Doubles - Saturday 13th October, Darlington College 6pm
The tournament was played with all 8 pairs playing each other in 1 group. There was a clear top 2 in the group each winning 6 games out of 7 to progress into the final. They were Simon Bamber & Raf Ali (Richmond) and Chris Coates & Ian Burnside (Haughton). The final was played over the best of 3 ends with Simon & Raf playing off -14 with Chris & Ian +7.
Simon & Raf ran out winners in 2 closely fought ends winning 21-16, 21-18 to retain the title.
Mens Singles - Thursday 18th October, Darlington College 7pm
The Tournament was played with all 6 players in 1 group playing each other. There was a clear winner of the group with Tony Robson (Aycliffe) winning all 4 matches with Ian Boyd having to retire injured during the group matches. There was a 3 way tie for second place between Andy Cook, Adam Swalwell and Ram Rai (all Richmond). In the playoff the first match was between Andy (-6) and Adam (+12) which was won by Andy 21-19 who then went on to face Ram (-12) again Andy won 21-14 to move onto the final facing Tony (+14).
The final was unfortunately very one sided with Tony winning 21-6, 21--3.
Super Vets (Over 50's) Mens Doubles - Thursday 18th October, Darlington College 7pm
The tournament was played in 1 group with all 5 pairs playing each other. There were clear winners and runners up of the group with Alan Wall & Keith Raper (Eppleby) winning all 4 games and Simon Cripps & Graham Hay (Larchfield) winning 3 games. The final was played over 3 ends with Simon & Graham (Scr) reversing their 21-17 group stage loss with a 21-18, 20-21, 21-18 win over Alan & Keith (+4).
Mixed Doubles - Saturday 20th October, Darlington College 6pm
The tournament was played in 1 group with all 7 pairs playing each other. We had a clear winner and runner up of the group with Jonathan Kirk & Sue Hudson (Glaxo) winning all 6 of their games and Simon Dinsley & Vicky Addison (Glaxo) winning 5 out of 6. In the all Glaxo final Simon & Vicky (+2) fought back from losing the first game 14-21 to beat Jonathan & Sue (+12) 14-21, 21-19, 21-16.
